I Am Successful
Some of you may have noticed I had a bit of an ah-ha moment recently.
I looked back at the beginning of my journal started Jan 2018 and realised my values were changing. Well, maybe they weren’t my values in the first place, but I thought they were.
Most of the “business” people I mix with online are building empires. I thought I had to too, to be successful. And so I saw my present self as not yet successful.
But then I chose to “reframe” my image of myself. That’s an NLP term for looking at things from a different angle.
What if the anxious, shy, 16-year-old school-leaver that was me could see me now?
The one who couldn’t even say “boo” to a goose, had an office job but struggled to make conversation with colleagues and never even went out on a date till she was over 18? (I went to an all girls senior school so my last memory of boys was that they were muddy and liked insects!)
Of course life moves on and I naturally moved to bigger challenges like getting married, new jobs, learning to drive, having children. And I could have stopped there, safe in my own little bubble, but something drove me on.
And that part of my life wasn’t easy. Needing to break away from the old me while still running a job and family. I felt anxious, depressed, overwhelmed but I still had to make changes. What I didn’t know at the time was that change, it’s an “inside job” – it’s about who we become inside rather than necessarily changing the external. Although when we change, the external part of our lives often changes for the better too.
This difficult time led me to learn so much about Psychology, How the mind is programmed (NLP) Law of Attraction, Energy and so many other fascinating subjects. And led me to my purpose to help others feel different on the inside, so that their outside can change for the better in whatever way is right for them.
So now, when a client tells me the family evening she was dreading went perfectly, I know I am successful. Or that the holiday she didn’t want to take was blissful. Or that he no longer needs to take blood pressure pills. Or that they just feel so much better about themselves, I am successful. Not just successful, I am so grateful to have the ability to help others change their lives from within.
I’m on a successful journey..how about you?
What would your younger self think of you now, given all that you’ve experienced and how much you’ve changed? I hope you see her smile…
